A Ware Family Puzzler

Note:  Mr. Raymond Martin Ware contacted me a few days ago to tell me that the information he thought he had lost regarding his Ware ancestors, has been found, and he forwarded me a large envelope.  I understand there is quite a lot more to come and I will be care-taking it for awhile before I send it on to the Owensboro Kentucky Public Library, to be donated to their Kentucky Room.  The envelope contained his personal Genealogy, including family photos (which will be posted later on our site), and several interesting bits of information.  One in particular was intriguing to me, so I thought I would share it here.

Sandy Watson sent this biography and transcribed copy of a letter about Sarah Jemison Ware to Raymond, but there was no contact information.  I went on Google to search for her connection to Sarah J. Ware and noticed that our member Judy Ware had some information on her other site, Big Balloon Music, regarding a man named Henry Ware, whose parents were the same as Sarah’s.  I contacted her.  She sent her information and a letter Henry had written to Rutherford B. Hayes, looking for his cousins.  Two things to make note of regarding President Hayes; (1) he was married to Lucy Ware Webb, who was a descendant of James Ware and Agnes Todd (mine and Judy’s lineage) and (2) President Hayes was an avid genealogist.

  1. I am the 3 times great grand daughter of Thomas Ware who married Sarah Jemison. I have just recently found this site and I am looking forward to connecting some of the dots. Thank you for all your information. Phyllis ph7988@gmail.com
