Joel Ware (1860)

“It is not definitely known by whom the group of peaks was named.  They were called the Three Sisters in 1856.  The first attempted ascent was in 1860.  In August of that year Messrs. J.H. McClung, Joel Ware, A.S. Patterson, Dr. Renfrew and C.H. Moses, of Eugene, succeeded in reaching a point about midway up the Collier Glacier, but did not make it to the summit.”
