”The Iberville South says:
Another well has been bored by Mr. John Ware, this time on the Laurel Ridge plantation, belonging to Mr. J. S. Tuttle, Esq. The well is 186 feet deep and discharges 51 gallons of clear water in 22 seconds through a 4-inch pipe. Mr. Ware has been very successful in boring wells for our sugar planters and we heartily commend him to those who need water to run the machinery of their sugar-houses.”

This item gives the old saying: “colder than a well digger a–” a different perspective, doesn’t it? We might be related to him. Good post Vicki,
