MYRA WARE CHOUTEAU Obituary, 1935

“Mrs. Myra Ware Chouteau was born June 5, 1861, near Richmond , Virginia, and died May 26, Vinita, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Chouteau was the wife of the blind musician, Edmond Chouteau, a well known and respected music teacher, and orchestra leader of the times. Mr. Chouteau died May 15, 1923 at 57 years of age..

Myra claimed descendantcy from the early Ware families of Virginia, from the Wares Church area.

Mrs. Chouteau was active in the Methodist church, and was known for her willingness to help others, often referred to as, “Mother Myra.”

Mrs. Chouteau died from a heart ailment that she suffered with for the last years of her life.

She is survived by two sons, Corbett Chouteau, of New Orleans, and Byron Chouteau of Vinita, as well as four sisters and two brothers.”
