Myron Kyser, son of Lorenzo and Samantha Kyser, was born
in Hartland, Niagara county, N.Y., May 13, 1850, and died
at his home in South Boston October 19, 1915, being 65 years,
five months and six days of age. While still a small boy,
he, with his parents moved from the state of New York to
Saginaw, Mich., and when he was about 15 years of age, again
moved to their home in the township of Berlin, where he
lived till his marriage with Miss Alice E. Ware of South
Boston in 1876, and where he has since resided. He was
highly respected in the community in which he lived, as
well as all other places where he was well known, holding
many positions of trust, the duties of which he faithfully
performed. He has been on of the directors of the Ionia
Mutual Insurance Co. for many years, thus making a circle
of friends and acquaintances where he will be missed.
Although not affiliating with any particular church, he
was a man of strong Christian principals, exemplifying
the spirit of Christ in his brotherhood of man as no one
went to him for counsel or advise, but received his kind
attention, cheery words and help. He enjoyed the social
life in his community and did all he could to help in it.
The young people as well as old will miss Uncle Myron as
he was familiarly called by all.
He loved the Sabbath school, of which he was a devoted
attendant with little Blanche, who for five years has been
a source of comfort to him and his wife. His friends were
hoping for him a long life of ease to enjoy the result of
his years of hard work, but he was taken when he was performing
his duty as he saw it, losing his life in an endeavor to
save others, truly it may be said of him: “What greater
love hath a man than he who layeth down his life for his
friends.”
He leaves to mourn their loss his heart-broken wife, and
sister, Mrs. S. A. Ware, two brothers, Charles F. Kyser of
South Boston and Albert Kyser of Buffalo, N.Y., eleven
nephews, three nieces and a host of other relatives and
friends, whose hearts go out in sympathy to the sorrowing
family in their great affliction.
The funeral was held at the residence Friday, Oct. 22, at
10 a.m., and was largely attended. The services were conducted
by Rev. Chamberlain, assisted by Rev. Lash of Lowell, singing
by Harley Maynard and sister, Anna Maynard of Lowell.
Pallbearers were the six sons of his brother, Charles F. Kyser.
The procession from the residence to the cemetery at Saranac
where he was laid to rest, consisted of twenty-five automobiles.
Friends and relatives were present form Grand Rapids,
Lowell, Belding, Greenville, Saginaw, Mt. Pleasant, Ionia,
Lake Odessa, Clarksville and Saranac."
