"Mrs. B. R. Gunn, wife of Gilbert High School's
principal, died at 5 a.m. May 14 at Rogers clinic
here after a long illness. Born December 23, 1901
at Starkville, Miss., Mrs. Gunn was Miss Katherine
Ware before her marriage, and came to Gilbert 33
years ago when Mr. Gunn joined the Gilbert High School
faculty. She was a member and Sunday school teacher
of First Baptist church of Gilbert, the church WMU,
Gilbert Woman's Club, Diamond-Hawthorne American Legion
auxiliary and a charter member of Oakley chapter of
Daughters of the American Revolution. Funeral services
for Mrs. Gunn were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at First
Baptist Church of Gilbert, with the Rev. W. C. Hall
and C. A. Martin officiating. Interment was in Myrtle
Memorial cemetery, Winnsboro. Survivors are her husband,
B. R. Gunn, her daughter, Edleen G. Marczak, a grandson,
Stanley A. Marczak, Jr. all of Gilbert; and a sister,
Miss Edleen Ware, Pineville. Pallbearers were J. C.
Monroe, S. H. Rhodes, S. W. Williamson, P. H. Hammond,
J. R. Jones, and Marion Shelton."
