“KROTZ SPRINGS – Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Ware
Buxton, 82, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the First
Baptist Church here with burial in the Baptist Cemetery.
The Revs. Steve Vickers, Gerald Robbin and Mark Stermer
will conduct the services. Mrs. Buxton, a native of Oakdale
and a resident of Krotz Springs, died at 2:30 a.m. today
(Monday, February 14, 2000) in Opelousas General Hospital.
She was a housewife. Survivors include: four sons, Edmond
Buxton of Port Allen, Merlie Buxton Jr. of Krotz Springs, Robert
Buxton of Tonti Town, Ark., and Buster Buxton of Belle Rose;
five daughters, Mrs. Ethel Barnado of Zachery, Mrs. Alice LeJeune
of New Roads, Mrs. Mattie Stermer and May Belle Kartchner,
both of Krotz Springs, and Pernie Vicker of Watson; three
brothers, EarlWare, R.L. Ware and Harold Ware, all of Oakdale;
two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Lee Ware and Mrs. Jeannie Ware, both
of Oakdale; 26 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a great-
great-grandchild. Mrs. Buxton was preceded in death by her
husband, Merlie Buxton; her parents, John and Crecie Ware;
a son, ClessBuxton; a grandson, Carl Buxton; a brother, Steve
Ware; and a sister, Audrey Johnson. Visiting hours will be
observed from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m.
Wednesday until time of services. Lafond-Ardoin Funeral
Home of Krotz Springs is in charge of arrangements.”
