Mrs. Mattye Lou Ware Martin, 84, a native and 
resident of Hammond, passed away on Sunday, 
January 25, 2009, at North Oaks Medical Center, 
in Hammond.
She was born in Magee, Mississippi on Tuesday, 
October 14, 1924, daughter of the late Otho R. 
Ware and Winnie Lou Meadows Ware.  She was a 
Homemaker.
Survivors include 2 brothers, Otho R. Ware Jr.
of Shepherd, TX, and A. J. (Pam) Ware of Mt. 
Olive, MS, 2 sisters, Ellen Ware (John) Hassell 
of Laurel, MS, and Catherine Ware (Clayton) Pope 
of Madison, MS; 3 sisters-in-law, Doris Ware 
(dec. William G.) McApin of Magee, MS, and Bonnie 
(dec. Shelby L.) Ware of New Orleans, LA; and 
Billie Jo Burchfield of MS; also several nieces 
and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her 
husband, J. E. Martin; a son, James Edward Martin; 
a sister, Audelle Niddrie; and 2 brothers, Shelby 
L. and William G. Ware.  
Visitation is scheduled Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 
at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in 
Hammond from 10 a.m. until the services at 11 a.m.,
with Dr. Lonnie Wascom officiating.
Interment will follow at Ponchatoula Cemetery."
