Rae Katherine Ware Vandaworker Obituary, 2008

"VANDAWORKER, RAE KATHERINE WARE
Born in Baton Rouge on Aug. 16, 1921, to Hulon and 
Kathleen Aby Ware, Mrs. Vandaworker died Thursday, 
Nov. 13, 2008. She was raised in Independence
until she moved to Baton Rouge at age 16. She graduated '
from Baton Rouge High School and then from LSU with a 
degree in business administration. Mrs. Vandaworker 
was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. 
Vandaworker; her parents; and her brother, Hulon 
Ware Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret 
and husband W. Luther Wilson; and two grandchildren, 
James Vandaworker Wilson and Katherine Fuller Wilson. 
She was very close to her remaining Aby cousins, Carroll
Beale Soper, William Beale, Ethel Aby Carneige, Betty 
Aby Adams and Peggy Crossley Nystrom. Mrs. Vandaworker 
was active in community activities including the Baton 
Rouge Bar Association Auxiliary, The Women's Club, the 
Girl Scouts, The Browsers Book Club and the Friday Bridge 
Group. She was a longtime communicant of Trinity Episcopal 
Church and served on the altar guild, as a Sunday school
teacher and worked with the youth group. The family wishes 
to thank Dr. Maurice Nassar, as well as Luvenia Tillotson, 
Brenda Smith, Sharida Sterling and Juliette Williams for
their loving care during these last years. Visitation at 
Trinity Episcopal Church on Monday, Nov. 17, from 11 a.m. 
until funeral service at noon, conducted by the Rev. S. 
Chad Jones and the Rev. Kenneth P. Ritter. Pallbearers 
will be John S. Campbell Jr., W. Shelby McKenzie, W. Arthur 
Abercrombie, C. Michael Hart, Vernon Porter Middleton, 
Robert L. Allen, H. Wallace Eversberg and Jesse Mire. 
Honorary pallbearers are the members of Taylor, Porter, 
Brooks & Phillips, LLP. Interment in Roselawn Memorial 
Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations 
to the Memorial Fund of Trinity Episcopal Church, 3552
Morning Glory Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70808."
