Ronald William Ware, 85, of Rocky River, died Jan. 30 at Normandy Manor.
Born in Cleveland, he grew up and lived in Rocky River. He was a 1943 graduate of Rocky River High School and attended Kent State University.
Mr. Ware was a lieutenant for the Rocky River Police Department. After retiring in 1980, he worked in the traffic signal department. He was a World War II Army veteran and awarded three Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the American and European Service Medal.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and Parma Heights Baptist Church.
His interests included camping, golf, Bible reading, hiking, roller skating, playing cards and games.
Survivors include his wife, Irene (nee Evensen); sons, Richard (Jan) and Ronald; daughter, Debra Bryant (Scott); grandchildren, Andrew (Jennifer), Erica, Keith, Ryan, Emily, Jareth, Wesley and Ellie and brothers, Clyde (Nila) and Karl (Nancy).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lucy (nee Garforth) Ware.
Services were conducted at Parma Heights Baptist Church.
Interment was at Alger Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Parma Heights Baptist Church.

My DAD!!! I miss that great guy!! He was D-Day plus six days on Omaha beach!! Great Cop for 30 years!! Always tinkering with something…I loved my Dad….but was not very much the way I should have been with him!! We camped a lot ….
