William Ware was a private in the US Civil War. He enlisted on 10 Sep 1861 in Appanoose County, Iowa and seved in the 6th Iowa Infantry, Company D. In January 1864, he was promoted to Corporal and in July 1865 he was mustered out in Louisville, Kentucky.

William F. Ware married Lucinda Adams on 17 Feb 1862 in Appanoose County, Iowa. They would have at least 5 children:
