“Agnes Highsmith Ware of Dunnsville, died on the morning of June 18, 2001 in Tappahannock.
She was born December 24, 1912 in Baxley, Georgia to Agnes Eason Highsmith and James Parker Highsmith.
She graduated from Wesleyan College with an AB in 1933, received a masters degree in English from the University of Georgia in 1936 and graduated from Yale University with a Masters of Divinity in 1940. In 1944, she married James Catesby Ware, who predeceased her. She taught French and English at Tappahannock High School and was a published poet.
She is survived by sons, James Catesby Ware Jr. of Norfolk and Peter Highsmith Ware of Toronto, Canada; her daughters-in-law, Carolyn Cain Ware and Lynn Harting Ware; and her granddaughter, Catherine Cain Ware.
Funeral services will be at the Rappahannock Christian Church, Dunnsville, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2001. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Marks-Bristow Funeral Home of Tappahannock.”
