“REIDSVILLE Evelyn Carter “Cricket” Ware, 71, of Elon, formerly of Ocracoke Island, N.C. died Sunday Oct. 10, 2004, at Alamance Regional Medical Center Burlington.

Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Citty Funeral Home, Reidsville. Private Burial will be in Reidlawn Cemetery.

A native of Rockingham County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late John Moody and Jessie Reid Carter and had lived in Elon for the past four months moving there from Ocracoke Island, where she and her husband retired after living in Lumberton, N.C. She was a retired Loan Officer with Robeson Savings and Loan in Lumberton, a member of the Ocracoke Preservation Society, the Ocracoke Quilting Club and was a volunteer at the Ocracoke Museum and Ocracoke Library. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mozelle C. Reid, Aileen Kamoda, and Annie Ruth Stewart.

Surviving are husband, Percy M. “Pat” Ware Jr. of Burlington; daughter, Lisa W. Stanley and husband, Patrick of Mebane; two brothers, Arbon Carter and wife, Kathleen, John M. Carter Jr. and wife, Kay, both of Wentworth, N.C.; two sisters, Estelle C. Griffith and husband, Frank of Eden, Lois C. Mirachi of Greensboro; two grandchildren, Logan Stanley and Will Stanley of Mebane.”
