“Mr. Gerald Lee Ware, 85, a resident of Route 1 Belington, departed this life at 6:30 pm Saturday, April 14, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 18, 1927, at Junior, a son of the late Samuel Fransisco Ware and Flossie Mae Swick Ware.
On Sept. 9, 1950, at Valley Head he was united in marriage to the former Edith Grace See, who preceded him in death on May 19, 2002.
Mr. Ware is survived by three daughters, Karen Boone and husband, Ken, of Belington, Donna Auvil and husband, Clark, of Elkins and Christy Weese and husband, Joe, of Belington; one brother, Otis Ware of Water Falls, Pa.; and one sister, Anna Claire Blake of Belington; six grandchildren; Lacoa Corder and partner, John Sampson, L.G. Corder and wife, Tracie, Jay Auvil, Tonya Auvil and companion, Kris Woodrum, and Ben Auvil and fiance, Ann Burkhammer. Also surviving are eight great grandchildren, Alexis, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Benjamin and Kayla Auvil, Logan and Eli Gripper and Emmett Gerald Corder; five step grandchildren, Neil and Tim Auvil, Kelli Bender, Kerri Wagman and Kristen Hedrick; and several step great grandchildren, and step great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Amos Kermit Ware, Ted Ware and Denzel Ware; four sisters, Thelma Ware, Zelma Vanscoy, Zona Bibey and Emma Jean McKinney.
Mr. Ware attended the schools of Barbour County and had retired from the Bethlehem Steel Coal Co. in 1986, and was a former member of the Junior Lions Club. He was a member of the WV Turkey Hunters Hall of Fame, the United Mine Workers of America and had attended the Calvary United Methodist Church in Junior before its closing.”
