“Janet L. Ware, 66, of New Market passed away Saturday morning, January 1, 2011 at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg where she had been a patient since Christmas eve.

She was born August 2, 1944 at New Market and was a daughter of the late Clayton and Ethel Baker Dellinger.

Janet attended Stonewall Jackson High School and had been employed by Citizens National Bank, F & M Bank and Federal Savings and Loan all of New Market and the Farmers and Merchants Bank of Broadway and Edinburg. She had also worked at J.C. Penney in Harrisonburg.

She was a faithful member of the St. Martin’s Lutheran Church west of New Market.

On July 27, 1961 she married S. Merrill Ware, who survives.

In addition to Merrill, Janet is survived by a son and his wife, Chip and Kathy Ware of New Market; a sister, Martha Litten and her Husband, John of Harrisonburg and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas “Tommy” Dellinger.

Pastor Tim Nilsen will conduct a funeral service on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. from St. Martin’s Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Market.

The Ware family will receive friends and relatives on Monday evening from 7-8 p.m. at the Theis Funeral Home in New Market.

Memorial contributions may be made to New Market Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 245, New Market, Va. or to St. Martin’s Church c/o Ramona Neese, 311 Manor Mill Ln., New Market, Va. 22844.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Theis Funeral Home, 9377 Congress St., New Market, Va., 540-740-3312.”
