“MATTAPONI – John A. Ware, 75, of Mattaponi, Va., died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, after a long battle due to injuries received from a fall in 1991. John, a retiree of Chesapeake Corporation, served his country proudly in United States Army during World War II. His parents, Kerfoot and Rosa Ware and brother, Kerfoot Ware Jr., preceded him in death. Left to cherish the memories of a loving husband, father and grandfather are his wife of 54 years, Christine M. Ware; a daughter and her husband, Cindy and Bob Norman of Mattaponi; a son and his wife, Mark and Shara Ware of West Point; a granddaughter, Kristie Norman; a grandson, Joshua Ware. He is also survived by three sisters, Margaret Ellington of Mechanicsville, Thelma Clarke of Tappahannock, Kathryn Daniel of Jamaica; a brother, Lloyd Dean Ware of Jamaica. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Hermitage Baptist Church, Church View, Va. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at Vincent Funeral Home, West Point, Va.”
