“Ruth “Sis” Avis Brady Ware, 78, of Logan, departed this life Tuesday June 24, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center in Charleston.
Born August 9, 1929, at West Logan, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Nora Burgess Brady. Also preceding her in death was one brother; John Brady.
Sis was a long-time employee with the Logan County Board of Education with over 16 years at Logan Central Junior High School. Over the years she had worked for Dr. Frank Jamison, Dr. Everett Starcher, and her son-in-law, Dr. Rodney Stephens, whom she retired from. She was a former Logan City Councilwoman serving 12 years; she was the longest presiding president of Logan Emergency Ambulance Service Authority (LEASA); she enjoyed serving the public and loved her community, and she formerly attended the West Logan Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Ware; daughter and son-in-law; Susie and Dr. Rodney Stephens of Charleston; brothers, Billy Tom (Mary) Brady of Smith Mountain, Va., and Jimmy Con (Nancy) Brady of Charles Town; grandchildren, Patrick Stephens of Charleston, Sarah Burgess of Richmond, Va., and Anna Stephens and Lee Stephen Valente, both of Tampa, Fla., and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, June 27, at the First Christian Church in Logan with Dr. Charles M. Wood II officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Honaker Funeral Home in Logan and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.”
