Charles Lorraine Ware Obituary, 1945

“Charles Lorraine Ware was born 10 Oct 1883 in Union township, Howard county, Indiana. He was the son of John Wesley Ware and Nora A. Tennell.

Growing up he lived in Union township until his marriage with Montie June Hunsinger on 1 Aug 1909 in Howard county. They had no children.

Charles moved to Greentown and lived there throughout the remainder of his life. He was the undertaker for Lucinda Main Ware (Jesse’s wife) and possibly other relatives. Charles was her grand nephew.

Prior to 1924 the funeral home in Greentown was called Mast & Fulwider but in 1924 Charles bought the J. E. Fulwider interest in the Fulwider and Mast furniture and undertaking firm, at which time the firm of Mast and Ware was established. After Charles died it became the Mast-Pickett Funeral Home. After Mr Mast died it became the Hasler-Pickett firm. See the obituary for Charles L. to see his purchase of it in 1924.
Charles was of short height, medium build, brown eyes, and brown hair. No disabilities. (WW1 Draft Reg Card).
Obituary -‘Mr & Mrs Ware drove to their farm near Pt. Isabel Wednesday afternoon and shortly after their arrival … Mr. Ware complained of feeling ill. He was taken to the home of Bernard Downs and a physician was hastily summoned. He died at 5pm.’  This occurred 6 Jun 1945. He was buried 4 days later on 10 Jun 1945 in the Greenlawn cemetery. His headstone reads: “Charles L. Ware 1883 – 1945”. His wife, “Montie J. 1877-1962″.”
