“Larissa Ware, 5, liked to use yellow to color in the faces of the people she drew. It was a neutral color for her and, coming from a multiracial family, she never gave preference to one part of her heritage over the other. About 300 mourners said goodbye to the brown-eyed beauty with curly hair and a penchant for the Disney princesses — so much so that friends and family were treated to a rendition of “Once Upon a Dream” from “Sleeping Beauty” as they filed inside the chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park and Mortuary, Covina Hills. On Dec. 21, she was struck by a bullet aimed at her West Covina home. She was hit in the chest and died the next day.’The beginning of this service is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life,’  said Pastor Rick Herring of Sunset Wesleyan Church and School in La Puente, where Larissa attended preschool. ‘Today, the angels are dancing and rejoicing around Larissa.’  Larissa, as did the other children, called Herring “Mr. Herman” because he told Bible stories using his dummy, Herman, he said. Family members called Larissa a “girlie girl” who loved to dabble in nail polish and lipstick and watch over her cousins and her 1 1/2-year-old twin sisters, Kayla and Kiera. Family members said she loved to help her grandma bake cookies, and eat her dad’s cupcakes.’Rashaun and Vicky raised an angel,’ cousin Sidney Ware, 14, said of Larissa’s parents. ‘She would always smile.’
Alex Guerrero, 25, of West Covina was arrested soon after the shooting and is facing a murder charge, as well as two counts of firing at an inhabited dwelling. A motive for the attack was not given by police .Mourners said their final goodbyes after following the white horse-drawn carriage that held Larissa’s casket to her final resting place, where doves were released in her memory.
A goodbye fit for a princess.”
