Mary Opal Ware, 87, of Rosemount, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
She was born May 30, 1922, in Portsmouth, to the late Clyde Webster and Rozella Thompson Meglasson. Mary was a Baptist, a former employee of the Sunset Lanes Inc., Frank Tiedge Ford, and Cole Lincoln-Mercury. She was a member of the Moose Family Center, James Dickey Post 23 American Legion Auxiliary and the Portsmouth Ladies Bowling Hall of Fame. She was also a certified bowling instructor, one of the founders of the youth bowling league and a 1940 graduate of PHS.
Mary was preceded in death on Dec.16, 2004, by her husband, Robert Kelly Ware, whom she married in Portsmouth on Jan. 3, 1942. She is survived by two sons, Terry Lee Ware of Richfield, Minn., and Steven Gregory Ware of Rosemount; five grandchildren, Robert K. Ware II, Gregory Alan (Jennifer) Ware, Susan Lee Marrs, Jarrod A. (Tracey) Ware, Terry L. Ware Jr.; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one grandson and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Ralph F. Scott in Portsmouth, with Dennis Dawes, minister, officiating. The family will receives friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from noon until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in the Memorial Burial Park.
