“Patmos – Elizabeth Gallagher was born in 1803 on the Virginia side of the river opposite of East Liverpool. In her 27th year she was married to Wm. S. Ware. Shortly after they moved to Salem where he followed his trade that of blacksmith. A few years later they procured a farm at this point. He still followed his trade, devoting his spare time to the farm. In this manner they secured sufficient means, which under ordinary circumstances and conditions would have proved a competency. Three years since Mr. Ware died. Meantime age had laid its hand very heavily on her whom we familiarly called “Aunt Lizzie.” She had become an imbecile-almost deaf and quite blind. In mercy she never knew of or realized the loss of that one in whose companionship she had passed so many years. During these later years she made her home with and was cared for with all of a daughter’s devotion by Mrs. Wm. Taylor. In her nature she devoted much of her time to and greatly delighted in church work. On Dec. 24 she was released from her suffering when almost 98 years of age.”
