“Velma Ruth, daughter of Arvilla M. (Maddox) and Boone Homer Bloyd was born 8 miles west of Alva on November 20, 1919. She passed away at the Alva Share Medical Center on the 14th day of June at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 25 days.
She attended the Star Rural Grade School and graduated from Horace Mann with the class of 1936. In 1940 she graduated from Oklahoma A & M and attended St. Louis Music Conservatory.
On August 3, 1941 in Alva, Oklahoma she was married to Ernest A. (Artie) Ware. To their marriage three children, Phil, Susan and Scott were born.
Following their marriage they lived in Fargo, Oklahoma. After WWII they moved to Alva.
Velma Ruth was a member of the Alva First United Methodist Church, past president of the Woodward District United Methodist Women, past president and 50 year member of Chapter C, PEO, past president of the Research Club, a dedicated member of Share Auxiliary (Pink Ladies) and an avid bridge player.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Glenn M. Bloyd.
Velma Ruth is survived by her husband, Artie, of the home, her children: Rev. Phil and Myrna Ware of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Susan and Adair Brown of Denver, Colorado, and Rev. Scott and Joy Ware of Woodward, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren and their spouses: Debbie Ware, Patrick and Paulette Ware, Christy Stotts, Roger and Janice Brown, Randy Brown, Julie and Mike Haslar, Eric and Rev. Elizabeth Ware and Amy and Kyle Eckhardt, fifteen great-grandchildren, one-great-great-granddaughter, and sister-in-law, Paula Bloyd, of Alva; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.”
