“Little Brother

Your sisters, Mae Jenson and I wish you a Happy Eightieth!

We were living with our family in South Dakota, when we hustled to the Burn’s to spend the night. Ted, Mae, Gen and I had visions of a great slumber party, when Lottie Burns, God rest her sole in peace, had a different idea. She had neither chick or child so could not be expected to know why kids behave the way they do.

She pursed her pretty red lips, furrowed her brow and without further ado, it was off to bed. The next morning we were awakened to the smell of a delicious breakfast being prepared for us. In the late morning were turned home. Our brother, Fay, sitting in the spring wagon with Doc Whaley (lady doctor) sitting beside him, was taking her home.

We gathered around our mother’s bed, looking big eyed at our little brother squirming in our mother’s arms.

Warren Livingston Ware was born May 27, 1913.

He came in for more than his share of attention. We called him “Warrenie”. He was the youngest member of our family and cared for our parents until their deaths in 1952 -53 respectively.

In 1953 he started working in the Veterinary Clinic, owned and operated by Dr. Mack Bonifield and his son Dr. Bill Bonifield.

Warrenie’s love for animals has kept him happy all these 39 years. He has the ability to talk dog talk, making friends of all his patients and their owners as well.

His hobbies have been coon hunting and fishing. Many were the times his coon hunting friends gathered at his house for telling tall stories and refreshments.

Some times they talked about the time Opal roasted a coon and a possum for their enjoyment. Warrenie didn’t talk much about the time he stepped in a hole in the river on a chilly night. Or the times he stumbled over fallen logs in his hurry to catch up with his coon dog who was barking true. He has many friends who enjoy his hearty laughs and his merry eyes.

He has been a wonderful brother. He always surmises to know how to fix things and was willing to help too.

I’m sure he would enjoy hearing from his many friends.

Happy Birthday Warrenie, little brother.
Mae Jenson
Opal Bonifield.”
