Wayland Ware Obituary, 2001

Wayland WARE was born January 4, 1916, in Bristow, OK. He died November 16, 2001, at the Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital, Auburn, CA.

Funeral services were held November 20 at the Arbor Vitae Cemetery, with Rev. Dwight Koopmans officiating.

Ware attended Pine Hill Grade School and Olive High School where he was on the basketball team.

He met his wife, Mildred Ruth LOW of Broken Arrow, OK, while he was working at the CCC Camp. They were married June 29, 1935.

He spent most of his life on the west coast in Oregon and California. He retired from McDonnell-Douglas in 1975.

He enjoyed repairing old furniture, going to swap meets and garage sales, restoring old cars, working in his yard, doing jigsaw puzzles, collecting Indian artifacts and watching college football.

Preceding him in death were his grandmother, Julia Carter SKEEN; his parents, Henderson and Lula WARE; brothers Oren WARE, Flaxie HARJO, and Richard HARJO, his sisters, Iva WARE and Juanita JONES; and his daughter, Norma WARE.

Survivors include his wife of Grass Valley, CA; his sister, Lorene DASHER and brother, Otis HARJO, both of Madera, CA; his sons, Gary HARJO of Grass Valley and David HARJO of Honolulu, HI; grandchildren, Kary of Stockholm, Sweden, Paul of Honolulu and Cynthia of Auburn.”
