Colonel Ware was a decorated veteran of World War II. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea. He died of other causes in Korea on April 2, 1952. For his leadership and valor, Colonel Ware was awarded the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

His wife, Lenora Ware is buried at Fort Sam Houston, as well.
