Christina Corona Ware passed away on July 19, 2007, after a sudden illness. She was born on June 25, 1935, in Gregory, Texas where she lived until 1966 when she moved to Corpus Christi.
Christina served as school secretary at Stephen F. Austin Elementary School from 1958-1974 after which she moved on as the first school secretary at the then-new W.C. Andrews Elementary School in Portland where she remained until her retirement in January, 1995. During those years, Christina met many life-long friends, among them, many teachers, students, and parents.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Regino and Aurelia Corona, and by her sisters, Enriqueta Euresti and Margarita Bazan.
She is survived by her husband Richard Ware; sisters: Emma (Vicente) Corpus of Rockport, Texas, Esther (Luis) Rodriguez and Alicia (Frank) Trevino of Portland, Texas, and Auralia (Greg) Tijerina of Corpus Christi, Texas; her brothers, Regino (Elsa) Corona of Brownsville, Texas and Fred (Olga) Corona of Corpus Christi; and her step-sons, Richard (Dana) Ware, II, of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Tom (Karen) Ware of Blackwell, Oklahoma. She also leaves behind many nephews and nieces and grand-nephews and grand-nieces and leaves behind a legacy of love and service.
Her unconditional love for all will be forever remembered.
Services held Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Memorial Funeral Home, Corpus Christi, TX. A funeral mass was celebrated July 23, 2007 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial followed at the Gregory Cemetery.
Pallbearers – her nephews: Roland and Greg Rodriguez, Joel and Steve Tijerina, and Orlando and Frank Trevino, Jr. with her other nephews and nieces serving as honorary pallbearers.
