Garland D. Ware, 87, of Baytown was born November 11, 1924 in Snyder, TX and passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at his home. He was a longtime employee of G. T. E. and then Verizon, retiring with 42 years of service. He was a very active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for over 20 years and was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. He and his wife Jenny enjoyed traveling all over the U. S. in their motor home, but most of all, he will be remembered for his devotion to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Ruth Ware and brother, Winifred Ware. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jenny Ware of Baytown; sons and daughter-in-law, Jim and Leah Ware of Baytown and Gary Ware of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Charlene “Bitsy” Spencer of Austin; sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Harold Carpenter of Livingston; grandchildren and spouses, Michelle Spencer, Jason and Leigh Spencer, Brandon and Tiffany Spencer, Nicole and Barrett Kirk, and Chris Morris; great grandchildren and spouse, Katie and Tyler Akin, Kara Spencer, Georgia Spencer, and Hudson Kirk; and great great granddaughter, Cheyenne Akin.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, January 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 3811 N. Main St., Baytown, TX 77521 with Rev. Mike Proctor officiating. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church building fund.
