John Blocker Ware III Obituary, 2009

“John Blocker Ware III, 61, of Elysian Fields passed away Oct. 14, 2009, in Shreveport. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Love, Rev. Harold Coburn and Rev. Brad Simms officiating. Interment will follow in Elysian Fields Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 16th at Downs Funeral Home.

John Blocker Ware III was born March 20, 1948, in Marshall to Jack Blocker Ware and Mary Elizabeth Furrh Ware. He attended the Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tenn., and graduated Elysian Fields High School in 1967. He attended Panola College in Carthage and SFA in Nacogdoches. On Feb. 20, 1975, he married Sue Ann McMillan in Elysian Fields. John was retired from the timber industry. He owned and operated Elysian Fields Wood Company for over 30 years. He was a member and secretary for the Elysian Fields I.S.D. School Board for 21years. Mr. Ware was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He was a Presbyterian. John was a member of the Loft of the Pines Racing Pigeon Club. He was a charter member of the Shreveport Racing Pigeon Club. John was a member of the Elysian Fields Cemetery Board and a member of the Elysian Fields Youth Association.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Ann Ware of Elysian Fields; mother, Mary Furrh Cooke of Elysian Fields; two daughters, Amy Ann Ware and husband James Love of Marshall and Brooke Ware Harrison and husband Johnathan of Dallas; son, Vince Ware and wife Jenn of Longview; grandchildren, Carolann Grace Love and Adeline Rose Love; brother, Jim Ware and wife Linda of Elysian Fields; mother-in-law, Phala McMillan of Carthage; sister-in-law, Mary Latham and husband Lee of Dallas; uncles, James B. Furrh, Jr. and wife Mary Leigh of Jackson, Miss., and James Ware and wife Connie of Blocker Community; one niece and five nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Blocker Ware; father-in-law, Conway McMillan; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James B. Furrh Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. John Blocker Ware II. Memorials may be made to the Children’s Fund at Bethel United Methodist Church, Elysian Fields, Texas. Downs Funeral Home .”
