Mr. Peter Woodhouse Ware, age 57, of Shady Valley Drive, Carrollton, died Sunday, August 19, 2007.
Mr. Ware was born in Coweta County, Georgia on July 22, 1950, the son of the late James Crawford Ware and Gwynneth Woodhouse Ware.
Peter was a graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, with highest honors. He also holds an MBA from the University of West Georgia. He worked for Southwire Company for 32 years in the SCR Department where he contributed greatly in developing and marketing the Southwire Continuous Rod(SCR) system. At the time of his death, he was Senior Vice President, SCR Technology. He was respected worldwide for his breadth of knowledge and ability to communicate it. He traveled extensively selling the SCR system. He was a registered professional engineer, and a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Wire Association International. He held numerous patents. He also received numerous awards within Southwire, including being named the Roy Richards Engineer of the Year in 1985. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Covenant Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife, Dr. Laurie J. Ware; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Kristina Ware, son, Bob Ware; daughter and son-in-law, Amy Ware and Gregory Sanders, all of Athens; step-daughter, Laurie Ann Taylor, Carrollton; sister, Sue O’Donnell, Raleigh, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. John and Mary Margaret Ware, Memphis, Tennessee, brother, David Ware and Dr. Brad O’Hara, Covington, Louisiana; step-mother, Louise Ware, Eastville, Virginia; mothers-in-law, Ruth Lance, Stone Mountain and Betty Ann Jowers, Douglas, Georgia. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Becky Lance Ware.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 22 at 2PM from the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Eddie Herring and Rev. Martha Dye officiating. Music will be provided by Mark Barnes and Tony Childers.
Pallbearers will be John Durscher, Phillip Head, Tom Crumbley, Dennis Marlow, John Ware, and David Ware. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Covenant Sunday School Class and SCR Department at Southwire.
Interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, Georgia on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
