Otis Leroy Ware Obituary, 2007

RANSON, W.Va. – Otis LeRoy Ware, 87, of Ranson, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at Shenandoah Health Village Center in Charles Town, W.Va. Born June 26, 1919, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Clinton A. and Mary Painter Ware. His wife, Anna M. Jackson Ware, died March 5, 2002. He retired from West Virginia Department of Highways, Jefferson County Division, with 38 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received several medals, including the American Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Service Bar. He was a Methodist. He was a member of Jackson-Perks American Legion Post 71 and VFW Memorial Post 3522, both of Charles Town. He is survived by one daughter, Kathryn Ware of Ranson; one son, Donald L. Ware of Virginia Beach, Va.; two granddaughters, Eva Lewis and Evelyn Lacorte; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Dr. Henry Christie will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town. Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

  1. Otis L. Ware is my father. Clinto A Ware my grandfather. We have no record of our grandfather’s parents or place of birth. If you have any information on him we would appreciate it.
