Joshua A. Ware, 77, of Arkadelphia died Jan. 19, 2004 at Baptist Health Medical Center-Arkadelphia. He was born July 12, 1926 in Arkadelphia, son of the late Joe and Irene Smith Ware. He was a retired employee of Henderson State University, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He received the “H” Award from HSU in 1993, and was the 1990 State Employee of the Year. He was a member of Gennesaret Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir, male chorus, male Sunday school and a trustee. Survivors include: Six sons, John Ware of Dallas, Texas and Joshua Ware, Ollie Ware, Melvin Ware, Ronald Ware and Sabien Ware of Arkadelphia; four daughters, Cathie Murphy of Texarkana and Rose Jones, Gloria Hart and Angela Ware of Arkadelphia; four sisters, Helen Minor of St. Louis, Mo., Vivian Jackson of Hot Springs, Jane Francis Ware of Landover, Md., and Bobbie Buckley of Moreno, Calif.; five brothers, Charles Ware of Detroit, Mich., James Ware of Orlando, Fla., Melvin Ware of Baltimore, Md., Joe Ware Jr. of St. Louis, Mo., and O.B. Ware of Little Rock; and 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at noon Friday at Gennesaret Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Hood, officiating and eulogist. Burial will be in Helms Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with family hour from 6-7 p.m.
