Jacqueline Marie Ware

Jacqueline Marie Ware, 65, of Crow Agency, passed away Nov. 2, 2014, at St. Vincent Healthcare. “Brings water all the time,” a Crow name given to her by Grace Three Irons, was born Feb. 10, 1949, in Crow Agency, a daughter of Louise Birdinground and William Three Irons Sr. She was adopted by Hannah Russell. She grew up in Crow Agency and attended schools in Crow Agency, Hardin and Riverside Indian School in Oklahoma. She attended Little Big Horn College, where she was a member of the first graduating class. She later attended Rocky Mountain College. She operated the first daycare on the reservation, worked for Head Start and for the Hardin Middle School. Jacqueline married Michael Ware on Dec. 28, 1968, in Crow Agency and the couple made their home in Dunmore. She was a member of the Baptist Church, Native American Church, Tobacco Society, Bad War Deeds Clan and was a child of the Greasy Mouth. She was a traditional Crow woman who took part in traditional dancing, hand games and the sweat lodge. Her parents; brother, William Three Irons Jr.; daughter-in-law, Nikki Dillon Ware; Tobacco Society parents, Douglas and Jeanette Adams; and her Tobacco Society adopted son, Dennis Mountain Sheep, preceded Jacqueline in death. Survivors include her husband, Michael; her sons, Theodore, Cody (Carlotta), Rusty and Glenn Ware; her daughter, Trina (Kevin) Romine; her brothers, Melvin Que, Gale (Mary) and Clarence (Jocelyn) Three Irons, Andrew (Diane) Russell, Quentin (Joen) Birdinground, Billy House, Oscar Swank Sr. and Arnold Geva) Coyote Run; her sisters, Marlene Falls Down, Stacie (Blaine) Choyou, Annie Real Bird, Jessica, Ann, Joselyn and Andrea Costa; her best friend, Wyma Little Light; her Tobacco Society children, Yvonne and Curtis Little Light Sr.; her Tobacco Society brothers and sister, Howard, Vivian and Kenny Shane; grandchildren, whom she raised as her own, Michelle, Jacqueline, Theo, Tronson, Josiah, KeeAllen, Siyowin, Michael, Melvin, Hannah, Jonathon, Jolee, Caleb, Wionna, ThunderAllen, Donna, Gavin, Landon, Kaiya, Damarion and Legend; four great-grandchildren; her uncles, Robert, Lloyd and Joseph Pickett, Blaine Falls Down, Clifford Birdinground; her aunts, Laura Pickett, Ernestine Birdinground, Violet Other Medicine and Verna Pease; as well has her extended family including the Three Irons, Birdinground, Other Medicine, Pretty Paint, House, Morrison, Morning, Brockie, Top Sky, Pickett and Adams families. Please accept our apology if we missed anyone. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, in the Crow Agency Spirit of Life Foursquare Church. Interment will follow in the Garryowen Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements.
