Arrie Striblin Ware Whaley Obituary, 2009

Roanoke – Services for Arrie Striblin Ware Whaley, 88, will be at Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Rocky Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Clayton Scott and the Rev. Lendon Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Potash Cemetery. Mrs. Whaley passed away August 2, 1009 at her residence. Mrs. Whaley is survived by two daughters, Bobbie Ware Taylor, of Jacksonville, Fla. and Judy Ware (James) Whaley, of Roanoke; two stepsons, Brad (Nellie) Whaley and Leonard Whaley, both of Valley; one sister, Deona Striblin Rollins, of Montgomery and Wade R. Striblin Jr., of Roanoke, and two grandchildren, Cdr. Rhonda Taylor, of Jacksonville, Fla. and Timothy Vinson Taylor Jr., of Stockbridge, Ga. and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be nephews and great nephews. Mrs. Whaley was born June 16, 1921, the daughter of Wade R. and Minnie Lee Hancock Striblin Sr., she was retired from the textile industry and a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Edward L. Ware and Elbert Whaley; three brothers, Calvin, Henry and Howard Striblin and three sisters, Lois Striblin, Florence Striblin and Beulah Rollins. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Wedowee tonight from 5 till 8 p.m. Mrs. Whaley will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.
