Dorothy A. Ware, 97, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015, after a brief illness at Cottage Grove, Cedar Rapids. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her son, Roger (Sharon) Ware; granddaughter, Sarah (Bryan) Tarchala; grandson, Jack Ware; great-grandchildren, Logan and Mason Tarchala; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Richard; parents, Irving and Hazel Drake; sister, Helen Potter; and brother-in-law, Ralph Potter.
Dorothy was born Dec. 9, 1917, in Palo, Iowa, daughter of Irving and Hazel Drake. She married Richard A. Ware on April 14, 1939. Dorothy was past matron of the Marion Chapter Eastern Star and a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, Dorothy has asked donations be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1340 Third Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403.
