ELSINBORO TWP. — Minnie Ware, matriarch of the Ware family, died at her home here Tuesday afternoon.
Mrs. Ware was 92.
She was the wife of the late Preston Ware, a well-known local farmer who served as a county freeholder and held positions on many county and state boards and organizations related to the promotion of agriculture. While raising her family, Mrs. Ware worked by her husband’s side in managing the farm.
Mrs. Ware’s late son, Clint, followed in his father’s footsteps and also served on the county freeholder board. He was followed by his brother, Lee, who currently serves as director of the freeholder board.
In April Mrs. Ware was recognized by the Salem County Commission on Women at the group’s Women of Achievement Luncheon.
On behalf of the Salem County Board of Chosen Freeholders, Deputy Director Beth Timberman released the following statement on Tuesday:
“The Board of Chosen Freeholders joins with the Ware family in grieving the loss of Minnie Ware. The Ware family has given so much to our county through Preston, Clint and Lee. Minnie was the glue that held this family together as they were committed to advancing Salem County. She has been an influential force in Salem County and her presence will be missed, but her memory will never be forgotten. Our prayers are with the Ware family during this time of mourning.”
Funeral arrangements were still pending Tuesday night.
