Melvin Ware Obituary, 1999

LaPORTE – ” Melvin “Buddy” Ware, 60, LaPorte, died at 12:05 p.m. Sunday (April 18, 1999) at LaPorte Hospital.

The funeral is at 7 p.m. Thursday at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, with the Rev. Daniel McDonald officiating. Burial is at a later time. Visitation is from 3 to 6:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Ware was born June 10, 1938, in LaPorte to Wilbur and Viola Fair Ware. On July 11, 1959, in LaPorte, he married Delena Barrier, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Jerry Ware, Clewiston, Fla., Jeffery Ware, LaPorte, and Jon Ware, Indianapolis; two foster daughters, Donna Barrier and Debbie Benner, both of LaPorte; eight grandchildren; five sisters, Barbara Roach, Glouster, Va., Shirley Wiseman, Michigan City, Carol Haubold, Pawnee, Ill., Nancy Giles, Yorktown, Va., and Patty Lindgren, Decatur, Ill.; two brothers, Richard Ware, Tacoma, Wash., and David Ware, Greensboro, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Ware Jr.

Mr. Ware was a supervisor at New York Blower. He worked at Clark Equipment, Michigan City, Allis Chalmers, LaPorte, and Uniroyal Technology, Mishawaka.

He was a former LaPorte Jaycee, a member of the LaPorte City Fire Department Merit Board and a former member of the Elks and Moose lodges. He was involved as a coach for many years with the LaPorte men and women’s slow-pitch softball leagues and was also was an Indiana National Guard member from 1957 to 1968.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society LaPorte County Unit or to the Church of the Nazarene, LaPorte.
