WARE, Mrs. Virginia B. (HACKLEY)
Kalamazoo Went to be with her Lord on Wednesday morning, December 8, 2004. Virginia was born August 27, 1918 in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Bert and Clara (Smith) Hackley and was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo. She was a member of the Allen Chapel, A.M.E. Church and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Phillips-Carr Post #344. Virginia was a devoted wife to her husband Harley, to whom she was married on September 27, 1947 and she was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a son, Sgt. Donald L. Chandler in 1962 and by 2 brothers, Donald and Kenneth Hackley and by a sister Verna Dell Mayberry. Surviving are her husband Harley D. Ware; 2 sons, George (Mary) Chandler, Jr. of Kalamazoo and Michael B. Chandler of Kalamazoo; daughter Michelle Ware Dancer and husband Odie L. Dancer, Jr. of Kalamazoo and a 4th son Sgt. Major Richard E. Gibbs of Columbus, GA; 11 grandchildren, DeMarco McAllister, Tyler Dancer, Charlene, Cheryl, Virginia, Ruby, William and Joseph Chandler, Jamie Melson, Theresa Snell and Linda Offord; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister Marvine J. (Blan) Hayes of Battle Creek; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family hour will begin at 10:30 am on Tuesday with the funeral services beginning at 11:30 am at the Allen Chapel, A.M.E. Church, 804 W. North St. with the Rev. Jerry McNeely officiating. Interment following the service at 1:30 pm at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may meet the family for visitation on Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Memorial contributions in Virginia’s memory may be made to the Allen Chapel, A.M.E. Church. www.langelands.com
