Gerald Ware, 70, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014, at McLaren Central Michigan in Mt. Pleasant. His Funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2014 with Pastor Brian LaMew of Mt. Pleasant Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Lake City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Lux Family Life Story Funeral Home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Commission on Aging. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Gerald was born February 26, 1943, in Rockford, MI, son of the late Kenneth and Lucille (Schwarder) Ware. He moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1962 from Lake City. On September 10, 1983, he married Mary Ellen Yarrington in Mt. Pleasant. Some of his favorite pastimes were watching the History Channel and Discovery Channel, gardening, and visiting with his great nieces and nephews. He was very proud to be an American.
Gerald is survived by two sisters, Yvonne (Bruce) Miller of Weidman and Linda Kerby of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Tom (Tammy) Beagle of Alpena; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ellen in 2011; infant sister, Diane Ware; sister, Marlene Curtiss; and brother, Wayne Ware.
