Harold Ware, 91, of Mount Eden, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016, at Baptist Healthcare in Lexington. Harold was born in Spencer County, on September 4, 1924, to the late Hollie and Merle Jewell Ware. A devoted member and deacon of the Bethlehem Baptist Church of Mount Eden, he was a tobacco and cattle farmer, an avid gardener, and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Claudine Ware Powell and Beatrice Ware Cunningham.
Harold is survived by his brother, Sidney Ware of Mount Eden; nephews, Darrell Ware, Dean Ware, Doug Ware, all of Spencer County, Doyle Powell of Henry County, and Dennis Cunningham of Shelby County; nieces, Connie Bowman of Spencer County, and Regina Morgan and Cheryl Ballard of Shelby County; and two wonderful caregivers, Tilly O’Bryan and Joyce Perkins.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 21, 2016, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville with Reverend Greg Taylor and Reverend Truman McClain officiating. Interment was in Highland Memory Gardens in Mount Washington. Visitation was Sunday, March 20, 2016, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville.
