Kay Francis Black Ware, age 68, was called home to be with Jesus on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren following a courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life service was held at Fairmont Missionary Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Sunday. She will be laid to rest on the Ware Ranch alongside her late husband. Services are under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada. Directions to the church may be found at www.rdifoods.com/fairmontmissionarybaptistchurch. She was born Dec. 27, 1941, in Plant City, Fla., to the late Chester and Katie Wilson. She later moved to Muleshoe, Texas, and attended Muleshoe High School where she graduated in 1960. Kay married Lyndal Black and they made their home in Muleshoe and later in Muncy. Kay had three daughters and they all eventually settled in Plainview. Kay worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Felix Crawford for 34 years. She also was employed by “M” Systems Bakery and then with Mrs. K’s Bakery where she delighted in making exceptional wedding and birthday cakes. In 1985 she met the man of her dreams, W.R. “Raz” Ware. Raz and Kay lived life to its fullest on the ranch, enjoying feeding cattle and riding four-wheelers and horses in the canyon. They also delighted in going to conventions and taking long cruises. Kay leaves behind her daughters and their husbands, Rody and Vina Hawkins of Raleigh, N.C., Jeff and Kevia Thomas of Coppell and Brad and LaShell Allen of Mesa, Colo. Kay also treasured playing Grammy to her grandchildren: Kelsey, Kenan and Kena Hawkins, Megan, Madison and Mylie Thomas, Sierra and Aspen Packard and Sierra and Sidney Allen. She also leaves behind her sister, Gayle Robison of Magnolia, Texas. Kay had a great passion for her faith where she devotedly served God as a Sunday school and Bible study teacher and a VBS leader. Recently, her Bible study group at Fairmont Missionary Baptist Church became one of her greatest treasures. Memorials can be made to Fairmont Missionary Baptist Church Bible Study Class. Although she will be missed tremendously here, the angels are rejoicing in heaven. Online condolences: www.MyPlainview.com
