Funeral services for Lucille Ware Bass will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 27, 2010, in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel of Oakdale with the Revs. Joey Swinnea, Paul Swinnea and Mark Swinnea officiating. Committal services will follow in the Pecan Grove Cemetery under the guidance of White Oaks, Oakdale.
Lucille, 87, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest Thursday, March 25, 2010, in her daughter’s residence in Westwego. She was born on May 30, 1922 in Oakdale to the union of James Ware, Sr. and Edna Ashworth Ware. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Marrero, and a homemaker. She loved everybody and enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting and playing games with her loved ones. She also was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and friend.
Her parents, and husband, James Corbett Bass, Sr.; one son, James Huey Bass; one granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Johnson; three grandsons, John Glenn Thibo-deaux, Preston Ray Thibo-deaux and Brion Keith Bass; three brothers, Alfred Ware, Sr., James Ware Jr. and Carl Ware and three sisters, Eunice Ware Willis, Luna Ware Coker and Betty Ware Ebert precedes her in death.
She leaves behind her loving family to cherish her memory, two sons, Gerald Ray Bass of San Angelo, Texas and Franklin Bass of Oakdale; six daughters, Marie Vickers of Nederland, Texas, Beulah Rivas of San Angelo, Texas, Gloria Thibo-deaux of Oakdale, Delma Allen of Elizabeth, Frankie Bass of Oakdale and Donna Johnson of Westwego; step-mother, Cornelia Ware of Oakdale; two brothers, Appleton Ware, Sr. of Oakdale and Elathey Ware of Mamou; three sisters, Ellen Glenn of Breckenridge, Texas, Pauline Coker and Lucy Chamberlain both of Oakdale; thirty grandchildren; seventy-five great-grandchildren and seventeen great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers to serve will be, Christopher Bass, Johnny Wayne Cole, Roger Cole, James Grubbs, Burnis Johnson III, Mario Galavez, David Allen Hayes, Tyrone Bass and Weldon Harris.
Friends may call today from 10 a.m. until time of service in the Funeral Home.
