On 8 June 1917 Douglas Ware registered for the military draft. This was at the height of America’s involvement in World War I. Douglas listed his home address as Osborn, Louisiana. He listed his birth date as 11 April 1894 and said that he was a natural born citizen of the United States. His occupation is described as being a self employed farmer in Osborn, Louisiana. He claimed that he was married and had a wife and child dependent on him. He confirmed that he had never been in the military service and he did not claim exemption from the draft. Douglas described himself as slender or medium build with brown eyes and black hair. He was not bald. Certified statement in Precinct 1, Ward 6, Rapides Parish, Louisiana.
