George Woodrow Ware, 81, of Denair died of natural causes Friday at Emanuel Medical Center, Turlock.
Mr. Ware was a native of Roanoke, Ala. He lived in Denair 23 years. He was a boiler operator for McGaw Pharmaceutical. He joined the Navy in 1942 and the Air Force in 1952. During World War II he served in the Pacific. After the war, he served in the Atlantic, Japan, France and Germany. He enjoyed farming and gardening. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5059 of Turlock.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Ware of Denair; his son, Tech. Sgt. Russell Ware of Misaua, Japan; stepchildren, Gloria Mesenbrink of Roseville and Colleen Hale of Las Vegas; brother, Edward Ware of Florida; sisters, Bovene Mallory, Edith Hardman and Reba Chesser, all of Alabama, and Opal Ware of Florida; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Allen Mortuary, Turlock.
