JOPLIN, Mo. – Second-year Missouri Southern football coach John Ware died Tuesday of an apparent heart attack after collapsing at his desk. Ware, 46, was discovered in his office after 10 a.m. Another coach gave Ware CPR until he was rushed to a hospital, where he died, the school said in a statement. The cause of death was not immediately known, but Jasper County coroner Jerry Neil told The Joplin Globe that Ware died of apparent heart failure. An autopsy was scheduled for today. Assistant coach Keeth Matheny, who will take over as head coach, said Ware had experienced heart problems in the past.
