GEPPERT, KATHRYN WARE, known as ‘Miss Kay’ to three generations of nursery school children, died September 14, 2000, after a short illness; she was 74 and lived in Brentwood; Mrs. Geppert graduated in 1944 from MICDS and from Washington University in 1948; Miss Kay began her career as a Sunday school teacher at Brentwood Congregational Church; she volunteered for 2 years working with profoundly handicapped children, then taught at Brentwood Community Center from 1968 to 1982 teaching nursery school and assisted with drama and dance classes; she taught at Eliot Chapel nursery school from 1982 to 2000 until illness forced her to leave in March.
Among survivors are her husband of 50 years, John W. Geppert Jr.; a daughter, Joan E. Llufrio of Warson Woods and 3 sons, John III of Brentwood, Jim of Chesterfield and Jeff of Brentwood and 12 grandchildren.
A memorial service and visitation will be at Eliot Chapel, Taylor and Argonne in Kirkwood, on Friday, September 22 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Eliot Chapel Children’s Fund or Ronald McDonald House. Arrangements by family owned BOPP CHAPEL.
