Christine Ware Moore Obituary, 2006

LENA — Mrs. Christine Ware Moore, 92, of Lena, a retired teacher, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest. She was born July 23, 1914 in Scott County, the daughter of Lawrence and Eloise Yarrell Ware.

Mrs. Moore held a B.S. Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, did graduate work at Mississippi State University and attained her AA teaching certificate in 1955. She taught primarily in Madison County and Leake County with most of her years at Lena High School between 1946-1975.

She was a member of Lena United Methodist Church and was active until her health declined. She also served as a secretary of the First Friday Club.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, Austin C. Moore; her parents; sister, Evelyn Ware; and brother, Andrew Ware.

She is survived by her son, Wayne H. Patten and wife, Marion of Darwin, Australia; and her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Cornelia Ware of Harperville.

Services were held Monday, Dec. 11 at Lena United Methodist Church, with Dr. Jerry Williams, pastor, officiating.

Pallbearers were Fred Westcott, Mike Sherman, Joe Langford, Bill Deel, Wayne Townsend and Larry Addkison. Burial was in Parker Cemetery near Tuscola. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest handled arrangements.
