Visitation is noon Saturday at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb,until services there at 1 p.m. The Rev. Bill Henry will officiate.Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. McElwee was born April 26, 1915, on the Belle Grove Plantationin White Castle, La. She was the daughter of John Stone Ware and Carmalite Gourrier Ware.
She was retired from Great Southern Wirebound Box Co. in Magnolia,and was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She was a tournament and life master bridge player, an avid bird watcher and traveler. Mrs. McElwee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,Charles Victor McElwee Jr.; six brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles B.McElwee III and Shirley McElwee of Louisville and James W. and Nancy McElwee of Atlanta; two daughters and sons-in-law, JuliaM. and Robert Reeves of Magnolia and Eloise S. McElwee Fontaine and Stanley Fontaine of New Orleans; one brother, James Andrew”Red” Ware of Ponchatoula, La.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
