OGLETHROPE — Nancy Ware, born in Oak Park, Illinois, 1919, the only daughter of Ralph and Mary Louise Ware, died peacefully in her La Jolla home Monday Jan. 27, 1997. Nancy, who lived in Mexico and Denmark, always considered La Jolla her home. She maintained a private residence there from her first childhood visit, in 1922, until her death this week. She was a dedicated volunteer at Gillispie Cottage, and Meals on Wheels, an enthusiastic member of Mary-Star-Of-The-Sea, as well as active in Daughters of the American Revolution. She will be missed by her friends and bereaved family. Nancy Oglethorpe is survived by her husband Garrett Oglethorpe of La Jolla, her children; Christopher Ralph Edwards of Grand Rapids, MN, Stephen Ware Edwards of Pacific Beach, Calif., Matthew Harlan Edwards of National City, CA, Mary Louise Gandrud of Boulder, CO and seven grandchildren.
