Mr. Ware was born in Gulfport. He was a graduate of Gulfport High School where he had perfect attendance for twelve years and was a member of the National Honor Society. He attended Drury College in Springfield, MO and received an associate degree from MS Gulf Coast Community College. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1971 after over twenty years of service and received the following awards: Seventh Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; United Nations Medal; Korean Medal; European Occupational Medal; and Presidential Unit Citation. Following his retirement he was employed at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport, Ingalls Shipbuilding and SubShip, U.S. Navy, Pascagoula where he retired in March 1999. He was a 33 degree Mason and a member of the York Rites. He attended CBC Chapel at Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Bidix Ware and Laura Ware; five brothers, James Ware, Franklin Ware, Olan Ware, Lawrence Ware, and Howard Ware; and three sisters, Jessie Ware, Bessie Ware and Florance Ware.
He is survived by his beloved wife of forty-five years, Jerrie Ware of Gulfport; two daughters, Jeri Rae Ware of Yardville, New Jersey and Susan Ware of Houston, Texas; four sisters, Lucille Hanson, Emily Herrington and Lillian White, all of Gulfport, and Norma Castings of Woodbury, CT; two sisters-in-law, Betty Ware and Shirley Ware, both of Gulfport; a brother, George Ware of Gulfport; a brother-in-law, Frank White of Gulfport; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Rae Blaylock of Yardville, NJ.
Visitation will be Sunday evening from 7 until 10 p.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport. The funeral service will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
