LELAND – Funeral services for Sybil Lee McDonald Ware, 89, of Brandon and formerly of Leland, a technician, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Boone Funeral Home, Leland. She died Nov. 8, 2006, at Hospice Ministries, Ridgeland. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Memorial Gardens, Clarksdale.
Born to Harriet Viola Horton McDonald and William Samuel McDonald in Clarke County, Ala., Mrs. Ware moved with her family to the Delta in 1933. She graduated from Arcola High School and was a retired employee of Mississippi State University’s Delta Branch Experiment Station at Stoneville. For many years, she was a faithful member of Leland First Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday school secretary and participated in the Goodtimers’ senior group.
Mrs. Ware was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Neal and Carl McDonald; and two sisters, Anna Pearl Mckinley and Annie Clyde Hutchinson.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, James Howard Ware; her daughter, Elaine Maynor and husband, Ben; her grandson, Joe Ben “Jobe” Maynor Jr. and wife, Priscilla; and one great-grandchild, Landon Joseph Maynor, all of Brandon; and one sister, Lizzie Mae Baugh of Greenville.
The family will receive friends Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
